Formations and plains of tufa mostly compose the landscape of this area, commonly known as bassa Tuscia or as Agro Falisco. These layers of tufa were generated by the volcanic system of Vico’s eruptions, which covered the almost entirety of this zone.

Paths

Wide cultivated fields are typical of the almost flat zones of the area; canyons are instead formed along the many rivers of the zone, which eroded the terrain creating deep, almost vertical gorges that then degrade towards the end of the valley.

Fosso Cerreto

All of these create a various, rich environment with dynamic systems constantly changing through time, affected by the weather and the water flows. It often happens that parts of the valleys collapse due to erosion and create or expose totally new spaces which will then become new habitats for plants and animals.

Paths

The vegetation is particularly variegated and unique, and visitors during the different times of the year can enjoy a great variety of colors, plants and flowers. Our environment is full of wildlife and biodiversity and inhospitable for modern human civilization, but yet pleasant and welcoming if you are a nature lover looking to explore the valleys through the numerous paths located here.
